Description
Atari 6502C Sally Ground Plane
Atari 8-bit computers, including models like the 400, 800, and XE series, were produced in the 1970s and 1980s. While many enthusiasts still use them for gaming and expansions today, newer models face stability issues due to cost-cutting in the design, particularly the lack of a ground plane, which makes them more prone to interference. This interference can affect screen quality, especially on Atari XE models. Specialized sockets have been developed to add a ground plane and address these stability problems.
The construction of the project is trivial. 100nF capacitor is connected to the Vcc pin. PCB has 4 layers. Suggested PCB thickness is 0.8mm.
Schematic and Layout
PCB Layout is very simple. 100nF connected to Vcc +5V. Rest of board is 4 layer ground plane.
