Banano Board - ElectroBananas Arduino Nano-based universal controller board
The Banano Board is a Arduino Nano-based universal controller board as featured in the ElectroBananas video:
https://youtu.be/pLuV-ciUMUs?si=Llm2Uv8akJ_nG_Yg
This universal controller board can accommodate .96, 1.3 or 1.5" 4-wire I2C OLED displays. Can be used with a standard Nano, Nano IoT or ESP32 Nano variants. If you wish to order these boards from PCBWay, recommend that you request PCBWay to only provide and assemble the surface-mount components (the parts listed in the BOM as SMT/SMD type). This will keep the cost down and allow you to populate the other components as necessary to accommodate the needs of your projects.
So when ordering, state in the instructions: "Only provide and assemble SMT/SMD components".
Note that PCB Way will offer a number of shipping options. This makes big impact on the overall price, so choose with care.
The BOM, Schematic, base-code (software) and prototyping case can be found in the sections below.
The board measures approximately 55mm by 85mm.
There is more information on the prototyping case here:

Change History
V1.1 Aug 2024
- Initial Release
V1.2 Jan 2025
- Hole size for OLED1, J1, J5, J6, J7 & J8 increased to 1mm.
- Improved silkscreen text.
The BOM provides part numbers from Digikey. A cheaper option is to buy from Aliexpress, see some examples in the links below:

Hello Anna,
Sorry to hear of your issues. Quite a lot of these boards have been ordered and I have not had PCB Way contact me except for the assembly of yours. I suspect that is because all of the other orders just asked for SMT parts supply and assembly as you did for 3 of your boards. They did tell me that the sockets they bought for your fully populated boards would not fit (the pins were slightly too wide to be inserted). I think this is because they sourced their sockets from a different supplier to me. This prompted me to make a quick design change (BananoBoard V1.2) that increased the hole size of the sockets to 1mm so that a wider range of sockets could be used. So your order actually helped by bringing this issued to my attention - thank you!
Yes the position of the LEDs should be obvious, perhaps they are being extra cautious as this may have been the first ever set of boards that were fully populated with through hole components. I have not really had any issues with PCB Way, although I generally use them for SMT component assembly only.
I am writing a short user guide for the BananoBoard that I think will be helpful to people populating and using the board. I will post it on the project page when ready.
Hope you get the boards soon. If you have any issues you can email me at my channel email address: Electrobananaschannel@gmail.com
Regards
Pete
And yes, I confirmed with PCB Way that the orientation of the LEDs are correct 8-)
Thanks for the reply, Pete! It looks like they're now ready to ship, and I can't wait to start using them for my next projects. Thanks again for the work and looking forward to the user guide when it comes out.
