  • I'm looking at building one of these. Do you know if it will it work with a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W?

Yes, it works with Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, but I tried it with a C64 PSU. If the VIC-20 PSU is not sufficient, you will need to remove the JP1 jumper and then use a second +5V PSU for the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W (or higher Raspberry Pi model). It is very important to remove JP1 before connecting a PSU to the Raspberry Pi! Otherwise the computer may be damaged!

When I tested it with the commodore 64 PCU, the Pizero2 worked, but I couldn't try it with the original VIC-20 PSU. If the current is insufficient, you can feed the Pi Zero2 with a separate PSU without shorting the JP1 jumper. (Don't forget to remove the JP1 cap. Otherwise you may damage your VIC 20 or PSU!)

  • Hi, I order the pcb in PCBWAY, excellent quality and the build and work perfect. thanks for the project A 30cm serial cable works fine, but a longer cable does not work reliably. How to use a 1mt cable?

    claudio torres 2023-10-10 22:42:26Reply

The serial cable is ok, the problem is the power source of the PIzero, some cables transmit noise others dont, I use the pizero cable to charge a battery and use other cable for the pizero and the problems were gone!!!. The noise is from the digital USB power supply make the serial port transmit errors.. Thanks.

  • Thank you for your really nice project. I would love to see more documentation on how it works, and also the schematic and PCB source files.
