  • Recently I build 3 cartridges and all works fine. I have only 2 CRT that didn't work, Lemans and Jupiter Lander. Someone use any of those that work? Also tried Ghostbusters (32K) shows a screen loaded and then goes to blue and nothing happens. Thanks for your support!!

  • Just curious, instead of using a 27C512 for 4 16K .bin images, could I use a 27C256 for 2 16K images or a 27C128 for a single 16K image? Though I suppose I could just burn a single image to a 27C512 and just solder a bridge wire from COM to L on J1 and J2 if I wanted a single image cartridge. Not much difference in cost for the various UV EPROMS. :) Also, the push button reset is optional, correct? Thanks, Mark M.

interesting observation I follow for answer

Although I haven't tried it myself (yet), I see no reason why it wouldn't work with a 27C128 and a single 16K ROM, especially if the jumpers were set (or forced) correctly. Addresses seem to "wrap around" so if you tried to access a location that didn't exist anyway, I reckon you'd just get one of the 16k images anyway. Also for a 27C512 you can burn 4 copies of the ROM into it, it then doesn't matter what the jumper settings are.

  • a little question: I've seen you're using an ATMEL 27c512r eeprom chip. Since I have quite a lot of old ST M27512 uv-erase eprom, I wish to know it will work with them too..

Hi Giobbi, As far as I can tell the pinouts look the same so in this case would be ok. Atmel datasheet - https://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/doc0015.pdf ST datasheet - http://pdf.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheet/stmicroelectronics/2387.pdf

  • Ordered 10 and somehow got 11. Thank you PCBWay. I found perfect switches for this build so no jumpers needed. Everything works great.

    👍 Nice one!

  • Hi It's a very nice design, thanks for sharing. Just ordered a bunch of those PCBs in yellow :). I'm thinking of putting them in the case and mounting a mechnical rotary switch (knob) for game selection, i guess it would be cool to have it. However do you think it wil be safe if someone later accidentally turns the knob and changes jumper positions while the game and C64 is on? Cheers from Poland Mateusz

Enjoy your build! I'd love to see how they come out in yellow, please tweet your build to me @iNimbleSloth The jumpers - or in your case a rotary switch - are used to change the voltage on the address pins of the EPROM, so in "theory" that alone should not cause a physical issue, but I have not tried this. By selecting a new game whilst another is running, the C64 will crash the running game.
