  • Hi, Apologies for the potentially silly question but does this PCBway project come with everything needed to build a functioning keyboard for an original ZX81? Also, would the PCBway assembly service result in a ready-to-go keyboard? Superb project by the way - I can just imaging that it makes the ZX81 a joy to use!

Hi Dave, It's only the PCB for sale via the PCBWay projects page. In theory, you could take the gerber file from the github page and upload to PCBWay along with specifying the switches you want etc for their assembly service. If you did that, you'd still need to source some keycaps for the switches. I'd recommend self-assembly though as there are only switches, a header and an LED on this. Note that there are connections for the LED on the ZX81+38 motherboard only, not the original ZX81. So if you are planning on using this with the original ZX81 motherboard, you don't need to solder the LED.

Thanks. Would be great to see the final build and keycaps on here once complete.
