Franzininho Wifi - DIY Lab
The Franzininho Wifi - DIY Lab project is a printed circuit board project designed to facilitate the use of electronic components in programming workshops. This project features a socket for connecting the Brazilian ESP based board Franzininho Wifi and various peripherals that can be connected to predefined pins on the socket using jumper connectors.
The project aims to be a material to help in programming workshops using the Franzininho Wifi. Programming workshops with microcontroller boards often end up using a lot of time trying to solve problems related to manipulating hardware, which could be better spent focusing on the programming part of the workshop. The peripherals can be easily connected to the board though enable pins, which drastically reduce the time spent on electronic connections, allowing the focus of the workshop to be on the programming part, and not on the hardware part, when that is not the focus.
The connectors are encoded with two characters: the first one indicates the function of that enable pin, if it is a LED, a button or other, and the second character indicates a number to identify that pin. The list of functionalities can be seen below.
- L: LED
- P: Piezo Buzzer
- B: Buttons
- M: Servo Motor
- S: Sensors
- SDA : SDA
- SCK: SCK
- E: External Connections
- 3: VCC 3.3V
- 5: VCC 5V
OBS: In the image of the board, some components are missing, since I did not have all of them when assembling the board.
The enable pins can be activated using any kind of jumper, but I recommend the use of connectors like the next image for convenience.
Apart from the built-in peripherals, other peripherals can be connected in the extra set of connectors of the board. In this extra set of connectors, some kind of header can be soldered to make the connection of other components easier.
A library was developed for the Arduino framework to map the names of the enable pins to the enable's names, making it easier to use the board in this framework, since this library makes it easier to access the correct pin associated to a peripheral.
The board is in constant evolution, and by the timing being a second version with some improvements is being developed. A preview of this second version can be seen in the next image.
The project is licensed under the CERN-OHL-S v2
