PLA to TL866 adapter
Inspired by PLA replacement adapter using an 64K EPROM by Jogi:
http://www.vic20.de/html/eprom_pla_8296_und_c64.html
This Adapter can both:
- reading the Logic from an PLA 82S100 (or any PLA replacement)
- replace an PLA 82S100 using an 64K EPROM (for example a 27C512)
To use this adapter as PLA replacement please close the jumper on the lower side of PCB.

This old PLA Chips used in old Commodore Computers. This part is very frequently the reason of problems. It is difficult to get original parts, so it makes sense to think about an PLA replacement.
The PLA 82S100 has exactly 16 input lines and 8 output lines. This is exactly same as a 64KB EPROM has ...
PLA and EPROM are different technology, but in this case it makes same thing: 16 in (address pins) and 8 out (data pins).
So any logical equations are solveable using an EPROM.
PLA replacement hardware could be done also using GAL, CPLD or FPGA.
With this adapter you can test if a PLA replacement hardware is working fine.
Simply read the Logic of the PLA replacement into a 64KB file using any EPROM programmer (like the TL866).
Now you can compare the 64KB files from the replacement and from the original PLA.
To compare files you can use any file compare utility (for example Windows CMD command 'FC /b file1 file2').
