  • Ruined 3 of these. The solder bridge jumpers are impossible for me and I keep ruining the boards.

  • This is an excellent project. I was able to complete a build of revision 4 recently (forgive the flux) and have been very pleased with the results. Thanks for sharing this project here! (It has been mentioned before, but I would like to reiterate: Use quality parts! I had to swap out some cheaper 7406 equivalent with a Texas Instruments-branded 7406 before certain disk images would load correctly.)

  • I successfully created this excellent project and documented the process the whole way with photos and part list sources. Hopefully my notes might be helpful for others, or just for an interesting read: http://blog.waynejohnson.net/doku.php/pi1541

I'm glad you like this project and thanks for sharing your "building of"!

  • Have you thought about creating one replacing the up, down, and select buttons with a knob? People have done this with Gotek drives and that allows you to move through all of the files very quickly instead of having to hit a button each time.

I would find such a rotary encoder useful myself and I'd probably create a board for it once it is supported by the Pi1541 software. See here: https://github.com/pi1541/Pi1541/issues/46

Thanks for pointing out that issue. I just didn't want to make/buy one to find out that this is something that would appear in a new version.

  • Thanks for the design works really well. Just letting you know I've just designed a 3D printed case for this to fit with the new Raspberry Pi 3A+ which is the same size. It's up on Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3232441

Glad you like the board. And thanks for sharing your case design!

You'll have to contact PCBWay about that. That is no restriction on my part.

    They got it fixed! Thanks!

  • I ordered this and can't wait for it to arrive. Do you have a 3d print case design for this I can print?

    hackup.net 2018-09-29 22:06:18Reply

No, I don't even own a 3d printer. But if you do create a case yourself, I'd be very interested to heat about it.
