SMuFF Mini Relay Board
This is a mini relay board for the SMuFF project. It allows the controller to switch the Feeder stepper motor signals (1A, 1B / 2A, 2B) between the 3D printer and the controller board back and forth.
For printing the 3D printer is controlling the Feeder stepper, on tool changes the SMuFF controller takes over until the tool change has been accomplished.
I made this PCB to get rid of the (in relation) huge Adafruit 4 switch Relay module which works great for this task but makes the enclosure larger than it has to be.
By using an optocoupler, the relay board is fully galvanically isolated and thus protects the I/O port of the controller (STM32 in this case) from being electrically damaged.
