  • hi dude, I would like to buy your project and make a 10% donation to you but i have some questions for you first, I want to know if this circuit can it work with 120 volts AC. ? and I also want to know if can i use it with brush motors for power tools like grinders, miter saws, routers, etc...? and the list of electronic components can be supplied by pcb way, the pcb comes with components to assemble it by myself? thanks u bro

Hi, this assembly, theoretically, should also work at 120V. The assembly cannot work if the motors do not have a tachogenerator. Here is an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFvq0tJieds&t=1s PCB comes without components

thanks dude and do you know where I can find one like what I am looking for? I mean for routers, saws, belt sanders, and in general for large power tools.

  • Hey; I wanna know that after I made it and plugged in, the TRIAC started to blow up. Even after trying without R13, it still happens(it blew 5 of them). So what about removing the big 0.22 ohm resistors from the circuit? Or how can I diagnose the problem?

    Mihaela Galbinasu 2021-12-17 04:46:44Reply

Possible causes: 1. Motor or power supply wires shorted. 2. Triac of dubious quality. I recommend BT138. 3. Poor quality TDA1085. A good TDA1085 has a measured resistance between pins 8 and 9 with values between 60 and 80 Kohm

Oh wait; Is this works on 250V AC? Because I'm not in Russia(I don't know where you really; but i think so) ; there use 220v 50Hz and here in Sri Lanka there use 230v~250 60Hz! If so how can I make this to work in here! If compatible, what cause this not to work because it blown my 6th TRIAC(by splitting it into 2 parts) I also removed other connections to board from the TRIAC before testing!

And also I'm using TDA1085C; not 1085! is that also a problem? Plz reply soon!

  • Can I use Parts Above in the picture instead of in original? 0.22Ω 5W resistors for 0.1Ω 5W resistors (R18 & R19) 0.1uF Mylar 450V capacitors instead original (C8,C10 & C11) 47nF 250V capacitor or disk capacitor instead original (C7) 680pF Disk capacitor instead original (C9)

It's good, all the pieces are ok

  • To use Soft-Start mode, Should I use this circuit mod? (Full pic is in here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wAgJxrt_cFizGIXCVWpjEfJJ_yMDhuL6/view?usp=sharing)

  • Can you please send me a picture of assembled circuit with the external potentiometer value? Because I wanna to verify if I'm using correct parts!

    Mihaela Galbinasu 2021-11-23 19:31:34Reply

A picture of the assembled circuit can be found here: https://zisoft.de/elektronik/drehzahlregelung I gave up doing this circuit because it produced a lot of heat, A variant that does not produce heat can be found here: https://www.pcbway.com/project/shareproject/Universal_motor_speed_controller_with_acceleration_control.html External potentiometer value is 100Kohm

    Jayasanka Bandara 2021-11-24 10:05:00Reply

OK. So how can I enable that soft-start option from pin 6 of the IC; Because I'm really gonna to use it on my washing machine!

    Mihaela Galbinasu 2021-11-24 11:39:37Reply

In order to make the start work on the ramp, it is necessary to uncouple pin 6 from the ground. See this schema: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y995vRf_tcXAadh9iGNA7s0YCFYgXTcN/view?usp=sharing

Are you sure that this will work with BTA24 TRIAC?

  • I want to know caps voltage ratings from C3 to C6! And can I use 0.47 Ohm 5W resistor for R18 and R19(and what is 0,1 mean)?

    Mihaela Galbinasu 2021-11-15 17:55:39Reply

C3, C6 minimum 35V. R18, R19 are 0.1 ohm 5W resistors. These resistors represent a shunt, for measuring the current on the triac.

  • Can I replace this TRIAC with a BTA16 or BTA24 TRIAC? Please help quick someone!

    Mihaela Galbinasu 2021-11-08 20:24:34Reply

    Yes.

Thanks! And also I want to know what is the difference between this and other 2 controllers?

  • What about for 110v motors? Do you have the same PCB for that?
