  • Hello i thought id add solution to an issue i found with a coule of my CH340 modules looked slightly different and would not boot, they would not power on at all ( no blue LED ) when in the C64 but worked fine and programmed without issue from USB. I found out that one of the ground pins was not connected to the rest of the grounds on these boards wich ment no GND made it to the voltage regulator. I fixed this by bridging it with a wire to the next ground pin and that made the boards start up no issue. Maybe someone else got these same CH340 modules and this will help someone :)

  • The size is wrong, doesnt fit the components on the BOM. The scale is wrong i think. The user port socket probably will just fit with the sides like they are but its going to need an adapter, and given the pins are so minimal, why even have this in the first place.... Is there a better version?

It looks like you're using the wrong NodeMCU board. Yours has a CP2102 chip, so your board is smaller. But this PCB is for a NodeMCU with a CH340 chip. I have that one, and it fits just fine. There is another PCB specifically for the CP2102 version.

ugh... though it fits, it doesn't seem to work. Seems to be missing "Esp8266 GPIO2 (d4) -> User Port H (DCD)". Also, I may be blind, but GND does not look connected

  • Hi! This looks very nice! Does it need special software to run?

I mean...does the module need programming?

Yes Module needs to be flashed before use. Here is the link : https://1200baud.wordpress.com/2017/03/04/build-your-own-9600-baud-c64-wifi-modem-for-20/
