8085 Single Board Computer System SBC-85 CPU v1.1
This version has been updated to SBC-85 v2 which has universal EPROM sockets and other enhancements.
NOTE: gerber files updated to version 1.1
I have been wanting to go back to my roots and build an 8080 or 8085 single board computer in the same concept as the MIL MOD8.
The 100mm x 100mm SBC-85 CPU is the first of several cards that are in various stages of design, building, or testing. As a shared project and open architecture, expandable system, I invite others to join in and create additional components for this system and share their ideas on the project website.
Designed as a very low cost 8085 based single board computer the board has:
- 8085 CPU
- 8155 providing 256 bytes of RAM, 22 pins of I/O, and an onboard timer
- 6264 8KB onboard RAM
- 4KB 2732A EPROM in socket
- 4KB 2732A EPROM in ZIF socket
- MAX232 for RS232 Serial I/O to a terminal emulator
- Full bus expansion including latched address via a readily available PCB edge connector
Other cards that are available and will be shared include:
- 4 slot backplane
- Bus monitor with 7-segment and binary address & data display, status line display, single step & slow step
- Cassette Tape Interface data storage
- Remex paper tape reader interface
- 8-bit relay output
We are currently working on the website, software, and additional subsystems so this is very much an ongoing project. Please visit SBC-85.COM for more details on the system including documentation.
