Given the extremely high prices the Commodore 1581 disk drives are commanding these days, wouldn't it be nice to be able to create your own 100 percent functional replica of the Commodore 1581 disk drive for a fraction of the price?

This is a brand new COREi64 exclusive design. We've come up with a replica case of the Commodore 1581 that will accept a PC drive. The current internal drive mount that can be printed along with this case fits the Samsung 321B PC disk drive or any other standard PC drive provided they have the same mounting profile (which all the floppy drives had in that era).

The case comes to you as a four piece print, three that comprise the case, just like the original. The base, top and face. Additionally, the fourth component is the internal mount is also included.

What makes this case unique among other replica cases is that this case is designed to be used with brass heatsets and black oxide screws to hold the case together (similar to the original). We however go one step further in that every mounting point in the case uses the same fastener technology. From the LED board mount location, to the PCB mount, drive mount and two case closure screws, everything uses heatsets and screws.

This case may be printed using any of the PCBWay printing services, from FDM to resin. They are all compatible with this case design. PCBWay offers many affordable 3D Printing options all the way to the top of the line EPIC transparent resin case which must be seen to be believed!
