Triple Zone PIR Workbench Lighting
After building a 7 ft x 3 1/2 foot workbench, I installed 12V overhead lighting, as outlined in this previous project. In this second part, I added two more PIR sensors to the setup, along with a strip of addressable 5V LEDs. This allowed me to program the setup to add extra light to the section of the workbench where I am working, and implements the same sort of brighter/darker pushbutton control of the previous iteration.
Additional lighting was affixed to a length of 1" plastic tubing, and as seen in the video below, much of the challenge of the project involved running and de-tangling the wires. The end result is fairly clean, however, so I think the effort was worth it!
One thing that could be improved is the fact that I'm using two power supplies here. There are a number of ways to make this better, so I may return to this project at some point in the future, whether I document it specifically or not.
Control is via an Arduino Nano, mounted to a Grounduino screw terminal board. Check out the video below to see how I made this!
