  • I made a Cartridge Shell for these 8K and 16K dipswitch carts and uploaded it to Thingverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5226721/files

They look very nice, thank you very much.

  • Is there an alternative to using this programmable logic chip? They are obsolete and the programmers are expensive. Alternately, if someone can program a chip for me I would be happy to pay

i found someone to program for me.

Hello to you too, Everything I want to share is above. You can find anything other than what I shared above by searching the internet. Thank you for asking.

  • I think it's important to say that the 20v8 requires programming as well. I spent so many time crying with that black screen... LOL

Hello Eduardo Senos, you are absolutely right, thank you for warning me.

Are there Any Instructions on how to do this from the Jed File. I'm using a T48 Programer, but the Chip is not detected, and I'm not sure Im doing it correctly, from the Jed File.

    Eduardo Senos 2024-04-22 22:13:41Reply

Hi Mike. I'm using T48 as well, no problem here. You have to select the correct chip, erase it, load jed file and then write.

Thanks, took me a while to slect the correct chip, but working now! Thanks

  • One question: are all the 8K bankswitch modes supported: F8 ("standard"), FE (used in Robot Tank and Decathlon), E0 (Parker Brothers) and 3F (Tigervision)? Anyway, great project, just ordered the PCBs. Many thanks!

    Eduardo Senos 2023-12-17 23:46:44Reply

that's something I wanna know too... but I think it only supports F8 modes...

    Alessandro Benedettini 2023-12-23 21:46:16Reply

I've tested with Miner and Miner II, both 3F and these aren't working on a real 2600. However, they are working fine on the new Atari 2600+, firmware V1.0. For Robot Tank and Decathlon (both FE) there are the converted F8 versions available.

I've tried with Montezuma's Revenge, Coco Bongo and Super Cobra but none of this games work on this cart and the Atari 2600Jr. Maybe this is the answer you need.

  • Hello, for 27C512, can we use W27C512-70?

    (DIY) C64iSTANBUL 2024-02-03 19:07:34Reply

Hello, I have tested W27C512-45Z, W27C512-45Z is okay.

ok, thanks for your quickly reply.

  • Does the W27C512 EPROMs need to be between 150nS - 250nS? I saw others using 120nS, and even 45nS... however the 45nS ones I'm using don't seem to work... all I'm getting is a black screen (as if nothing is plugged in). Thanks!

    Engineer 2023-08-09 03:02:49Reply

UPDATE: EEPROM speed (45nS, 120ns, 150ns, etc) isn't a problem; all three work. I'd still stick with the recommended speed... but if you come across any 45nS EPROMs, no worries. If you're facing a black or blank screen despite soldering everything together and flashing the EPROM, here's a crucial tip: don't forget to flash the 20V8 chip too. I thought the 20V8 was a passive component like the 74LS04 or 74HC04, but it requires programming using the provided .JED file... it should work as intended afterwards!

Hi, Recently I received all components to build the cartridge, but I have the doubt on how to program the ATF20V8B-15PC using the JED file. Just using the EPROM programmer? Thanks for your help.

    Eduardo Senos 2024-01-19 08:59:57Reply

Yes man, do it. Programmer + Jed file.

  • Hi! I think it's missing a 2k2 resistor in your descript_ion...

You are absolutely right, I missed this. Thank you.

  • I finally got a couple of these made. This is awesome! Works on all my A2600's and a Coleco Gemini, but not the Retron 77.. Thanks for putting this out there. Used an ATF20V8B-15PC. For others out there, The .jed file is what you put on the Lattice.

  • Does it matter if the Lattice chip is a GAL20V8A or a GAL20V8B?

    (DIY) C64iSTANBUL 2023-03-25 12:56:16Reply

Hello, I only tested GAL20V8A-15LP, but I did not test GAL20V8B.

    J Retro42 2023-03-27 09:19:39Reply

I ordered a bunch of GAL20V8B's for a different project. If they work for this one I will let you know.

    J Retro42 2023-04-19 21:28:28Reply

I have tested and the Lattice GAL20V8B-15LP chips work.

  • The link for circuit diagrams and schematics is the same as JED file and sample EPROM image.

Hi, Eric. If you need circuit schematics please send me an e-mail to c64istanbul@gmail.com
