4 inch 480x320 TFT Display v1.1
4.0 inch 480x320 TFT Display v1.1
Display source
This is a 4 inch ILI9488 320x480 display module that uses a 12 pin 1mm pitch FFC connector. The 12 pin connector, which handles both the display and touchscreen controller, can be mounted horizontally or vertically as needed. This board’s footprint is smaller horizontally than the widely available ILI9488 320x480 display modules. This board also fixes an issue with many of the display modules where the display doesn’t release MISO making sharing the SPI bus with the touchscreen controller and other SPI devices impossible.
The jumpers SJ1, SJ2 and SJ3 are jumpered to allow the display and touchscreen to use the same SPI bus.
If needed the board can be configured so that the touchscreen controller uses a different SPI bus by using a separate 4 pin FFC connector for the controller. In this case the jumpers SJ1, SJ2 and SJ3 are left untouched/not jumpered.
JP3 is a 4 pin, 1mm pitch, bottom contact, FFC connector source. Note that JP3 is only installed when you want to run the touchscreen controller on a separate SPI bus.
U1 is a XPT2046 touch controller chip. source
The buffer chip, U2, is optionally installed only when you need to be able to read from the display. In most cases you only need to write to the display so U2 and C5 can be omitted. This chip is used to release MOSI when the display chip select goes high/unselected.
JP1, JP2 are 12 pin, 1mm pitch, bottom contact, FFC connectors source. You only need to install JP1 or JP2, not both. When built for my Dust Collector Monitor v4 project use JP1, the connector closest to the 40 pin display connector.
A1 is a 40 pin, 0.5mm pitch, upper contact, FFC connector source. Note that the quality of these connectors varies based on the vendor. Try to locate connectors that are wrapped with metal on both ends. The low quality versions only provide a metal pad and tend to break very easily.
To attach the display to the board I use 3 horizontal strips of 10mm double sided tape. source
