  • Hello I would like to change the number of drive from 8 to 9 but switchng jumpers seems to not have any effect. is there any manual or instruction how to do it ? If yes please share a link. Best Regards

    No jumpers = 8 ---- Top two short = 9 ------ Bottom two short = 10 ------------ Top two + Bottom two short = 11 -------- Top is 3 buttons side -------- Bottom is C64 side

Thank you for quick response. It has worked flawlessly.

  • Hi. Is the Pin28 really necessary to be connected into C64 CPU? I'm asking because I see even if this pin is not connected into C64 CPU then everything still works fine. So why I should make this additional wire connection ? Thank you very much in advance for your support :-)

Hello, the cable connected to CPU Pin28 is required for larger programs to run. Programs using the lower addresses of the memory will not have a problem, but the programs using the upper addresses of the memory will not work without the CPU pin28 cable. Thank you for asking.

    Engineer 2023-09-24 16:07:38Reply

Could you please give an example of larger program ?

  • Hi. May I use ATMEGA644P (including "P" at the ond of name string) ? I know that there are two main types: Atmega 644 and 644P. I'm nut sure if available / compiled firmware could work with both mentioned IC's. Thank you for your feedback. Mariusz

Hello Mariusz, ATMEGA644PA works, you may use ATMEGA644PA . Thank you for asking

  • Hi, I am almost ready to begin this adventure , one question pops up for now , how do i program the atmel , is that the icsp header block ? I looked at Ozayturay's github , but there's even less info than i can find here :) thanks

Hi Eddie van Loon, thank you for asking. There is some information in this link at the bottom of the page, you shoud get a TQFP44 to DIP40 adapter for this PCB. http://pungas.space/blog/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8:build-your-own-sd2iec-with-or-without-pcb-in-english&catid=8&Itemid=102

    Eddie van Loon 2020-10-16 19:34:11Reply

Hmmmm Bummer , the chip is already soldered to the PCB , so no adapter can fix that for me ... Such a shame :(

ATMEGA644P TQFP-44 can be programmed from ICSP pins. I think detailed information can be found from Google and electronic forums about "programming via ICSP"

  • Yes, cool idea, but there's still one problem. How do you handle the HI ROM Signal which has to be connected internally to the CPU (pin 28) , like on the original SukkoPera Kernal Cart, in order to let the Kernals work properly ? In his project there was a wire that had to be soldered from the C64 MB and the cartridge using a connector.

Thank you Giu MacGyver. Left side of 74LS30 there is the Pin for wire to CPU (pin 28), like the original project. I am using this project for a long time without any problem, with different kernal ROMs. Kernals are working properly.

    Giuseppe Giu MacGyver 2020-05-31 05:44:48Reply

Well, that's good. I tell you this, since i've experienced some issues with multikernals , using the Sukkopera's Kernal cartridge. Things did work well only if i connected that wire to pin 28, and that's quite unconfortable. Thank you anyways for your reply.
